Rich the owner of Energy Master LI Building Consultants since 2011 and was a Building Performance Contractor certified by the Building Performance Institute (BPI) in shell and heating from 2005-2011, and performed energy audits for existing houses as well as upgrading them to reduce their energy cost by air sealing, insulation and replacing the heating systems.
Rich is a (HERS) rater and performs ratings on new construction buildings to Energy Star standards and is currently studying for his (NATE) certification. He has been a home inspector for over 23 years and has inspected over 4000 residential and commercial buildings; and is also a New York State Building Code Enforcement Officer.
Rich also performs HUD inspections for the County of Suffolk.
He is a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and had been on the board of USGBC-LI for 6 years and serves on the LEED for Homes committee and the Education committee, and holds the LEED-Homes AP certification, as well as a Green Rater certification and has been performing these services for several years.
Rich is a GPRO instructor for Fundamentals and Project manager and O&M, and GPRO Homes.
Rich was also involved and was a key player who helped develop the Long Island Green Homes project for the township of Babylon Long Island (One of the first in the country). He also performs moisture evaluations inspections on buildings.
Rich has been an instructor for the Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES), a state run vocational school for the last 20 years; and an instructor for the American Real Estate School for 22 years.
Rich is also a Proctor for BPI, which enables him to provide the written and field test for candidate’s wishing to become certified BPI specialist. He currently does training and proctoring for BPI in the certifications of Building Analysis, Building Envelope, Heating, Air Conditioning & Heat Pumps, Energy Auditor and Quality Control Inspector, and sits on several BPI Technical Standards Committee.
He is an expert witness, as well an arbitrator in the construction industry for the past 22 years with Construction Dispute Resolution Services (CDRS) and National Center for Dispute Resolution (NCDS).
Rich was also trained by Canam Building Envelope Specialist to evaluate building envelopes on commercial buildings and has performed approx. 75 audits on commercial buildings throughout the Tri-Region area. He had participated on the NYSERDA Pon 1817 which he developed the envelope portion as well as several others sections for the training for Commercial Audits. He is currently developing a training program for LEED for Homes to train HERS raters as well as LEED AP’s and a Passive House Rater/Verifier
Rich has been a speaker and provided presentations for the 2017 International Builders Show (IBS), and the NY Build Conference in 2017
